✦ About
Hey there, I’m Caley! I’m really glad you’re here.
I’ve always believed that what you wear on the outside says a lot about the kind of person you are- what you're thinking, how you feel, what you value, what brings you joy- on the inside. Clothing is an autobiography of sorts, if you think about it.
I spent years working as a professional stylist, helping other people find themselves in what they wear. And I loved it. But somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted something slower. More personal. Less about constant newness or brand names without much substance to back them up, and more about what actually stays.
The Maiden Mother was born out of that shift.
What started as a creative outlet—teaching myself to sew after a bit of a life reset—slowly became a way of living. I began making my own clothes, then knitting them, then sharing the process online. That space grew into something bigger than I expected—a place where I could document what it looks like to start again in your thirties, to rebuild a life more intentionally, and to come back to yourself piece by piece.
Along the way, I fell in love with slow fashion. I started thrifting differently. Looking closer. Paying attention to fabric, construction, the way something holds up over time. Eventually, that turned into sourcing pieces I couldn’t stop thinking about—beautiful, well-made garments that had already lived a life and still had so much left in them.
Now, each collection is a mix of those found pieces and one-of-a-kind designs I create from reclaimed textiles. I clean them, mend them, take care of them—whatever they need to feel like themselves again.
I think of it less as owning these pieces, and more as being a steward of them for a little while.
And in many ways, that’s what this space has become, too.
Through The Maiden Mother, I’ve found a deep love for helping women step back into their own lives—to feel like the main character again, to trust their instincts, to choose what stays, and to let the rest fall away.
Because this isn’t just about clothing.
It’s about living again. On your own terms this time.
In praise of a second life.
